I used to have Windows 98, and I lost the disk that you used to completely re-program your computer back to it's original state. So if you still have the disk you can do it that way. It will remove all your programs that you have downloaded since you have had your computer. It will completely remove everything and bring it back to the way it was when you took it out of the box the first time you purchased it. Or you can call HP or Microsoft or whatever computer you have and ask the Manufacture what they recommend.

I have never known there is such a way to repair it without a disk or cd. Because all repair data usually comes froma diskette or the cd-rom. The route you can take is try to download a floppy boot disk of windows 98 or copy a friends disk/cd just to repair your windows. Hope that helps.

It might be if you are lucky enough to have the install files on your system already.

Check in Windows\Options\Cabs and see if you have setup.exe. If so then you can run that from inside windows esentially doing a repair install. You will probably still need your CD key. Its been a long time since I used 98 so I don't remember.

Forget about Windows 98. It's the worst operating system ever. You're better off just buying a new computer altogether, or going without one, than using Windows 98.
