Resize the picture. You could also save it with a higher compression ratio but you will lose quality drastically. It depends where you are uploading it to but if it is to display on a web page you very rarely need a picture larger than 800 x 600.

Compressing it with winzip won't help. JPEG files are already compressed and can't be zipped any smaller. Saving as a GIF won't help either. GIF files only support 16 colours, so if it's a photo, it will look dreadful.

If you need a program to resize it with, download Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com

1. Launch an editor.
I am assuming that you are working on windows XP. Since I have no knowledge of the software you have present I am going to guess that you do have Microsoft Photo Editor. Try finding the file in windows explorer and double-clicking on it. This will likely bring up MS Photo Editor. If that still doesn't work, search your computer for PHOTOED.exe and run that file.

2. Resize the file.
Now with that file open in MS Photo Editor, go to the file menu and click, "Save as". When the file name dialog box comes up, click the "More" button. In that section of the dialog box you can adjust the quality of the picture and thus the file size.

3. Rename the file.
Now save the file with a new file name. You're done !

If the files ur trying to upload is normal text, word, photographs u can zip it using winzip or any compressing utilty..xp u have compressed folders kinf of stuff but if the files are like executables or movie or mp3...its very difficult to zip them..u can but to a very low extent....

One more thing u can try is to use a cutter uility which can cu ur file into desired size and then u can upload but person whom u send might have to use the same tool to get the original file.

Good Luck

JPEG Files aren’t usually large but here’s an easy option.
Start > Programs > Accessories > Paint
Save it a .GIF

Edit it in a program. I don't know what you have there.

Go to the folder with the photo, click it once and then right click. Do you have Picture Manager?

Another way is to email it to yourself (right click - send to mail receipient) and choose to make the file smaller. Once it has come back to you in the email, save it to the computer and you'll find it has become smaller.

Jpeg is already fairly compressed. I'd resize with a photo program...photoshop, or freebies..gimp or paint.net. You can get it down to a manageable size without losing too much resolution.

jpeg is about as compressed as an image will get. you could make the picture smaller if you want.

start -> run -> "mspaint"
open the jpg file
Image -> stretch/skew -> imput percentages

I would suggest making the image smaller and saving it as a .gif.

if you're trying to send it, try compressing it with winzip. If you're trying to get it on a site, try opening it up in an imaging program, and changing the resolution, pixel size, or canvas size.
