Can you leave AIM on on a laptop without it closing?

If I have AIM on, and decide to close my laptop or leave it on for awhile so it logs me off, every other program is left untouched, except for AIM. Is there any way to make this not happen? It does it to my friends' computers too.

You might try looking in the Powersave options to see if you can leave the network port open when the laptop goes to sleep.
