My microsoft internet explorer keeps sending a warning that my computer is infected with a virus and spy ware,yet when I ran my mcafee virus scan twice,there were no detected items,also my computer is begining to slow down significantly and when I try to access the internet my mcafee blocks the page!?!

My computor runs slow at times, ok at others, occasionally a box pops up and says internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I can click straight back on to internet and everythings fine again. Also my clock time alters irrationally. I have done quite a few system restores and had to reset the time afterwards but a week or so later its wrong. I'm on Telewest Broadband and have PC Guard set on Scheduled Scan and it doesn't report a problem, but if i run a manual virus scan it only gets to 80% complete and won't go any furthur. It won't report a problem and the only link that does anything on the page is 'back' which i eventually have to press and abort the scan. I've tried a few virus scans from various sites, they all seem to tell you you've got 200 spyware, 10 viruses etc, and this is free to this point, they then want money off you to get rid of them. Back to the question, is it a virus? and is there anywhere i can remove it FREE.

I live in a student house. There are five laptops connected to a BT router. Can someone on another computer view what I am looking at on my computer, at the same time I am looking at it? We have no locks on the doors so anyone can have access to my computer. Have password protected my computer, but only recently. Is there a way I can check on my computer if someone has set it for this? It's called remote viewing I think. Thanks.

i forgot my system password( not setuppassword)and the computer won't boot until i enter it. unfortunetly it is a dell and iu can not find the jumper to clear it. the jumper is usually next to the battery on the motherboard but in this system it is not so how do i get rid of it?

p.s.the bios won't let me disable it either

i just built a new pc and attacthed my old hd via usb, i want to gain access to my docs for all my bookmarks but it's prtected , i know the password but it does not give me the chance to enter it , just stops me is the away to access it?

I used the XP "Disk Management" utility to initialize and use the USB 300 GB drive and it works well. I have transferred data files from 3 old 3-1/2" IDE drives to it using an IDE to USB cable. When using the same cable for the 2-1/2" laptop IDE drive it does get listed on XP "Disk Management," but it can not be "examined." It also does not show up on XP "My Computer," so I am unable to trasfer any files.
I am now at a loss as to how to retreive the data on the corrupted drive before reinstalling the OS.
[have tried all the "Data Recovery" options with no luck.]
[and the geek squad wants $170 to do it for me... not to that point yet... ]
[Must it now be done using DOS? Is it that involved?]
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the laptop dirve data transferred to the mass storage device???
My technical know how is middle ground... but i can follow instructions and learn new skills...;o]

what is the best, safest browser to use with spyware doctor+avg antivirus+zonealarm firewall......at the moment am using firefox but ie7 and opera 9 are also out there.....how do they relate especially with speed?

A annoying pop-up appears in the monitor screen and says that my computer is infected ,and when I click on the pop-up ,it takes me directly to a web-page that tells me that I should buy their software to stop the viruses...
