spyware (and many other nasty things) are often sent as 'cookies' which your computer stores while visiting a site: the seedier the site, the more likely you get tracking cookies. running several (3-4) of the better removers cleans out most of the junk, but it's always easier to KEEP THEM OUT, rather than try to get rid of 'em. try a couple of lightweight free programs avail from 'snapfiles' 1)spyware blaster 2) spyware guard.
these work very well (on xp).

I highly recommend you download SUPERantispyware. It will remove all spyware. It is VERY VERY effective and it is free.
