um using windows xp..... everytime i want to install a new software it says that i don't have the authority to make such changes and that i must log in as an administrator...AND I AM LOGGED IN AS an administrator account..... another thing that i can't change the startup items from msconfig because of the same reasons..

At least once a day my screen will all of a sudden start zooming in...150%...300%...500% and keep going. I will go to the bottom right hand corner of my screen to put it back to 100% but the second that I move my cursor back to the active page everything starts to zoom again. What I normally have to do is restart my computer and then it is fine for a while...sometimes a few days if I'm lucky. I do have a cordless keyboard and mouse and the batteries are new. I've tried searches and can't find anything that addresses this problem. I can't be the only one out there that has had this happen. It is very frustrating!!! Please help!! Oh yeah, I also scanned for viruses and such and nothing...my computer is clean. This only happens when I am on a website...not when I'm working on documents or anything else.

I want to know why my computer keeps crashing any time I try to save pictures? It's done this 4 times in 3 days and 27 times in 3 months. I've had to reboot my computer whenever it won't let me save pictures as .jpg format. What do I do?

It used to be fine but I want to go to youtube and watch videos. Now it says that I either have an old version or Javascript turned off. When I load the link to download the lastest version of Flash it installs fine and I can see the test banner but as soon as I click out of the Flash window I get the same error message from youtube! How can imake sure Javascript is on? Any help much appreciated.

I have two home computers using dialup and work independently Not networked). They both have Windows XP and are in seperate rooms (one wall away). One computer hardly ever gets disconnected. The other newer computer frequently gets disconnected. Here is another mystery. When the problem computer disconnects the icon in the task bar stays there as if it were still connected. Remember, one computer hardly ever gets disconnected while the other one does all the time. Thanks.

I'm having trouble burning a "Data DVD" with a bunch of files (approx. 3.2 gb of mp3, docs, pdf, etc). I'm using Sonic or Nero and every time I go to burn a data based DVD it says please insert a CDR or CD-RW.

Is there anyway around this? Am I missing something? Can DVD's only be used for video and or ISO based DVD files?

I need the absolute most basic directions on how to install wireless cards into my computers and the other pieces I need to set up wireless in my house. I'm not familiar with wireless procedures, however I have installed a cd burner into my computer before so I'm not totally computer dummified. ; )

my laptop is Centrino Duo(1.8GHz) IBM-lenova T60 model.

i keep it switched on most of the time and only shutdown for a few hours everyday.
i need to know whether its safe for this laptop?

I know there are Jacks to Red and White, for plugging say your PC to a Speaker System.

But is there an something Opposite?

My Problem is I have a Red and White cable for sound and it will not go into my Monitor as the monitor does not have the correct inputs and needs a smaller audio input. (long story WHY I need this to happen)

In summery, I need to convert a Red and White Audio Cable to one Single Mono Jack. Do these exist?

I’m buying a couple of computers off where I work, and hoping to cash in on eBay, however, I’ve just spoke to the IT guys and there not coming with an operating system!

So, can I put a copy of XP on, and say for “demo use only” or something clever so I’m legally safe.

Or

The only other option I see is Linux, which in that case does anyone know which one is the best when it comes to user interface, nicest on the eye sort of thing?

Whenever I move my mouse pointer over the LAN icon or the Airtel Broadband icon, it shows that the speed is 100.0 Mbps. What exactly does this denote? Cause I know that my bandwidth is 256 kbps... Is there anyway I can access the internet through the LAN? If so then can I change the speed to maybe more than 1 Mbps?

Need to know if I can format a CD-RW on my computer. I need to be able to work on the disc so I need read write access and cannot figure out how to format a disc. I have Easy CD Creator 4 and have not found any tutorials that match. I tried formatting on a friends laptop but when it got to the end, a general message failure came up.

Any help or do I just go back to floppy disc which I at least know how to use.

Appreciate any help!!!

i am in a caregiving on line group where you can post comments. i was writing all my comments in capitol letters. i was just sent an email by one of the people in the group. he told me i was wrong for writing in all caps. he said it was like yelling. he also said it was harder to read. i thought it would be easier to read. whats the real deal? am i wrong or what.

Please suggest if I should switch off the button of my UPS while I turn off my computer and should I also switch off the mains button in this case.

Or should I keep the main button on and switch off the UPS button so that it may keep charging?

I formated my computer so before I did it I stored all my files to my memory stick and after I formated the hard drive I stored all those files back to the computer but now I can only play my Mp3's and not other format of music.

When playing others it is asking me to connect to the internet before playing my music.
