Need to know if I can format a CD-RW on my computer. I need to be able to work on the disc so I need read write access and cannot figure out how to format a disc. I have Easy CD Creator 4 and have not found any tutorials that match. I tried formatting on a friends laptop but when it got to the end, a general message failure came up.

Any help or do I just go back to floppy disc which I at least know how to use.

Appreciate any help!!!

I went to the site of the Easy CD Creator's creator roxio and apprently the utility that you need is similar to Nero's In CD 5 which allows you to read and write to a CD-RW...as if it were a floppy....
check it out...though I don't know about compatibility issues with Roxio's drivers...
details are available at:
http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/InCD_5.html

downloads should be available on P2P networks...
enjoy..

First I hope you are running XP (or Linux), secondly if you have a good burning programme such as Nero or Easy CD both of these will format a CD/RW. It is about the only time I would suggest Easy as it has a good drag and drop interface on your desktop and works out straight away wether you have a formatted disk or not. Otherwise from "My Computer" you should be able to right click the disk and see "Format" and although Roxio (who produces Easy CD) wrote the software for Microsoft I never think it is that dependable.

If you are using Windows XP, you can format the CD just by right clicking on the drive and selecting format. If this option does not show up, either you don't have a CD-RW drive, or you don't have a CD-RW CD. In Easy CD, just go to help, and search for format and that will tell you have to format the CD there.

You just copy in the files you need, and do not close the session.
Easy CD Creator 4 should be able to step you through that; I know it has the tutorials to do that.

You need 'packet writing' software installed in order
to format the disk properly as a re-writable disk. This
software is not normally installed by default

For Nero, you need 'InCD'

For Roxio, you need 'Direct CD' / 'Drag-to-Disc'

HTH.
