Whenever I move my mouse pointer over the LAN icon or the Airtel Broadband icon, it shows that the speed is 100.0 Mbps. What exactly does this denote? Cause I know that my bandwidth is 256 kbps... Is there anyway I can access the internet through the LAN? If so then can I change the speed to maybe more than 1 Mbps?

Your LAN is rated at 100 Mbps. This is called fast ethernet. You're internet connection speed is only 256 kbps. No matter what you do it will not change. The internet traffic is still moving at 256 kbps max, it's just traveling over 100 Mbps lines once it reaches your router. Keep in mind that all these speeds are max ratings. You're not going to get the maximum speed over the internet or the LAN.

The LAN trunk is 100Mps. Access to the Internet requires the LAN administrators approval plus the company must pay for an ISP. ;-)=

It shows your connection from your computer to your next device, ie. router, switch,.. whatever. It has nothing to do with your internet upload/download speeds.
