I travel and use my email from different locations, such as from a hotel, or public library in a different state or country. Would the email providers, such as AOL or Yahoo or hotmail keep track from which location I have accessed my email? Do they remember that kind of information (sign on info)?

I have one in the living room and it downloads things at a high speed. When I'm downloading a file on internet explorer it will go at 1.2MBPS sometimes but usually about 500KBPS. The other cable modem I have will only download at 30KBPS if I'm lucky.

I was wondering, you know how there's the pre-installed option in the start menu for using the Application and Driver Recovery program to restore software/drivers for your PC on HP OEM machines? Is there a way to just make backups of the software and drivers that are being retrieved and restored onto a seperate disk? Like just incase something happens to your recovery partition/discs/diskettes? Or maybe if something becomes corrupted, and you don't want to do a full reformat just to reinstall those things? Is that at all possible?

By the way, here are my specifications:
OS: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
Model: HP Pavilion a1540n

Is there also by any chance a CD/downloadable package that already has this available? Like an HP applications and drivers only recovery CD/disc/diskette?

I've heard rumors of a slipstreamed version or something, but that's all skeptical at the moment.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

I wanted to make a clone of my laptop's hard drive on my portable Maxtor OneTouch Mini III 100 gig hard drive so I used this program called CloneDisk to do it. I already had 10 gigs of music on the portable hd but I didn't think my songs would deleted if I did the cloning, but unfortunately they were. Is there a way I can do some kind of unformat or restore on the portable HD to get it back to how it was before I did all that? Thanks

My Laptop got stolen last week, but unfortunately I wasn’t insured on it. One of my mates said to me that it could be tracked down if the laptop goes online. Is that true and how can it be done.

I just bought a second-hand I-Book from a friend. It's my first Apple so I don't know all the tricks to cleaning it up for max performance.

I know it's older, but I am sure there's a bunch of things I can do to make it run faster, cleaner, ect.

I already took off all the files I KNEW could go (music, pictures, movies)

What else can I do?
Please be specific, because as I said, I'm new to Macs, and am re-learning to walk here.

Here are the specs:

10gigs
500 mgh
G3
I-book

Thank you so much for your help

Hi,

I created a .reg file in notepad. However, when I try to execute it, it just opens notepad instead of prompting me to import the file into the registry. I set the file type as all types.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks!

i live in Singapore.

my current modem is a ADSL modem. i just got a free modem after doing a recontract of my internet service provider (ISP), which is 1500kbps.

the modem is a SpeedTouch, 516(i) v6 / 536(i) v6, Multi-User ADSL2+ Gateway, modem.

i heard that ADSL2/ADSL2+ modems are good. but when i read the instruction book, it says there i require an Ethernet Network card installed. i checked my PCI expansion slots, it is pretty empty except for the graphics card -__-...

so i presume i do not have one. furthermore, i do not see the slot for one of the wires (i think it is for the Ethernet Network Card), which looks abit bigger than the normal telephone plug.

my question, is it really important for ADSL2+ modems to require the Ethernet Network card? how does the whole system work with the modem and the card? what Ethernet Network card should i look out for, or doesnt matter?

where in Singapore can i get a reliable (not so expensive) one? and for much?

thanks.
