Whenever I try to download files to my computer regardless of the size of the file, my computer automatically reboots itself canceling the download. I cannot download anything. Can anyone help me with this?

Rebooting computers is usually a heating problem or a lack of power from the PSU (power supply unit) but from your question, I can understand this only happens when you transfer files from the Internet, meaning downloading.

My guess is you're infected with a virus/trojan or something similar. Even if your anti-virus says otherwise. That wouldn't be a first. That is, if you do have an anti-virus.

First thing to do is get a second opinion. Go to: http://housecall.trendmicro.com and do a complete scan. NOTE: some malwares monitor web access and will block or reboot the computer when you try to have the computer scanned. If your computer reboots or stops you from accessing the site, you may very well be infected.

In that case, your options are few. Try booting in safe mode with network access and then try to access the above website. If that doesn't work, ask a knowledgeable friend to remove your computer's hard drive to scan it.

Last is to simply put your Windows CD/DVD and reformat, reinstall but I don't suggest that since you would lose everything. Though you could try to backup your stuff on a CD/DVD but that brings the risk of putting an infected file on the backup. Tough choice.

If scanning doesn't reveal anything I suggest you have your computer checked by a technician, preferably a knowledgeable friend first.

Sounds like Corrupt system files or a faulty power supply unit. Best thing although extreme at best.. is to reformat the computer. If it continues to restart when you initiate a download. I would think about replacing the power supply unit of your computer.

run a virus scan...a virus is the only thing i would think that would do something like that...
later, if you can download things, get Advanced Windows Care:
http://www.download.com/Advanced-WindowsCare/3000-2086-10407614.html
that is a good addition to any antivirus software...it checks things like spyware, your defence against viruses....
