You need a lead from an electrical shop like Maplins, it'll cost about a pound. Its got a mini microphone jack at both ends and you plug one end into the 'headphones out' socket on your tape player and the other into the 'microphone in' socket in the back of your pc.
Then you use a free program like Audacity to record the tape, cut it onto seperate tracks then 'export as WAV' and burn it to cd.
You end up with your tape, a copy on the pc and a cd.

It might take a couple of tries to get the volume right, just give it a go!

first go and buy a double sided stereo pin cable.(dont worry its very cheap).
Then connect one end to your walkman or audio cassette player and the other end to your computers microphone port.
Open sound recorder or any software to record sound and start playing the audio tape.
It will be recorded very clearly without any noise.

you can use a microphone to record the content of the tape on your computer, (and then transform the ".wav" files into ".mp3" using Goldwave or any other sound editing program....but you can listen to them in ".wav" format to)... enjoy!! :))
