I have one in the living room and it downloads things at a high speed. When I'm downloading a file on internet explorer it will go at 1.2MBPS sometimes but usually about 500KBPS. The other cable modem I have will only download at 30KBPS if I'm lucky.

It's a modem the cable company sent out to me. I pay $5 a month to rent it.

Its not the modem.
