whats better 300X300 resolution or 2600X2600??? i dont get dpi or any of that stuff. What is the best printer??

Since I use the printer just for printing out letters or spread sheets, I see no need for a color cartridge. So, I seems logical that only a black cartridge would work ok. But, knowing how companies try to limit options to make more money, I am not sure whether I need the color cartridge for the printer's operation or not. I have been buying the color cartridges as a matter of course only to have them dry up. I think that everyone will acknowledge that replacement cartridges are way too pricey. In fact, I can BUY a new printer for what mine cost to replace. Advice would be appreciated. TKS

I am trying to install a printer on Vista, I have downloaded the drivers from the printers website. I keep getting a message asking for drivers for USB 2.0 MFP (hi speed) not the printer which I assume is a motherboard issue, I also do not have a 'virtual usb port for printer' in the device manager or port list. Can anyone help with drivers for the usb 2.0 and how I install the virtual usb printer port.

I've been using an old canon bjc 210 but it's suddenly stopped working (although the power light is still on) and the 'error' light keeps flashing. It may be best to lay it to rest, unless (hoping) someone knows how I can bring it back to life. Otherwise, the cheapest printer for windows millenium would be appreciated.

I have a load of used Epson and compatible ink cartriges, and I am looking for a charity or somesuch to send them to, since some places collect them for fundraising.
What I keep finding though via Google and suchlike, is that most places that accept used ink cartriges dont accept Epson... I am loth to throw the cartriges away, as I use loads of them. Can any of you tell me of a charity or place to send the used cartriges to? Thank you soo much.

I have an opportunity to purchase some laser jet paper for a project I'm doing at an extremely good price. I've been told it's find and also that it won't work. Any thots? If it's a risk I won't bother but it's an excellent deal so don't want to pass it up if there's no problem with it.

Is it true new HP printers like the HP PSC 1510 have cartridges w self destruct capacity built in if one trys to refill them? This would be similar to the Epson cartridge which has a memory chip recording the amount of ink used and preventing refill when the memory senses the cartridge is low or empty.

1) i have a 2800 hp printer.it will not read files from the usb. i think people say it something about the ports(port1, port2...)
2) i do not know how to fix my printer. what do i do? also i might try to uninstall the printer and install it again. the cd installation is lost. is there a plce to donwload it?

Hi everyone. I've got a Lexmark X3350 printer, which connects to my PC via a Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable. Thing is .. my PC is "old" (around 6 years!), and it is "set up" to have a printer on the parallel port... FYI - I'm running Windows 2000.

I recently "lost" my PC to printer connection, and in the past it has taken me 60 to 90 minutes to re-hook it up... I've tried starting the PC and then attaching the USB cable, but the PC doesn't pull up the "New Hardware detected" window-box.

Can anyone recommend an easy way? I'm thinking something with the Hardware / Device Manager, and clicking on the USB settings? Is there a way that I can have the PC / Windows 2000 "check" each USB, and then have the printer be "found" (again)?

I have had the same Lexmark 4270 for a year with no problems. All of a sudden it will no longer print any documents. The print jobs go to the que, but just sit there saying printing. Eventually a blurb comes up and says Communicaiton not available. Fax, copy, scan to the computer all work, but not the print function. I have changed USB cables, checked power, uninstall/reinstall, update driver, check the spooling, hours on the phone with Lexmark and Dell and no resolution. I do not have a system restore point to take me back to there. I have hooked the printer up to another computer and it has the same problem. Since the printer can scan and send the image to the computer I am confused why it will not print. Please help, this is driving me nuts!!!

When I type some text onto my letterhead and press print,it prints three "blank" letterheads before it prints the one with the text on! How do I stop this,please help it's wasting a lot of my ink! Thanks
