I have had the same Lexmark 4270 for a year with no problems. All of a sudden it will no longer print any documents. The print jobs go to the que, but just sit there saying printing. Eventually a blurb comes up and says Communicaiton not available. Fax, copy, scan to the computer all work, but not the print function. I have changed USB cables, checked power, uninstall/reinstall, update driver, check the spooling, hours on the phone with Lexmark and Dell and no resolution. I do not have a system restore point to take me back to there. I have hooked the printer up to another computer and it has the same problem. Since the printer can scan and send the image to the computer I am confused why it will not print. Please help, this is driving me nuts!!!

This sounds like a possible glitch in the properties of the printer. I would like you to try this . Step 1: Get to your control panel
Step 2 Open printer /faxes
Step 3 Left click then printer a mini control windows will appear .Select and right click on properties.
Step 4 an properties panel will appear
Step 5 Click on advanced tab..
Step 6 Right click /mark where it say to print directly to printer.
This should then let you print again. If not try running an updated antivirus program just to be safe.

1:many Spanish speakers in USA are there perfectly legally but not long enough to read English well (older peole especialy find it hard to learn a new language, how would YOU go if you emigrated to China or India, even now?) 2: it is to the government's advantage to let ALL RESIDENTS know about important things, otherwise if they break laws etc they can claim ignoarance I live in Australia, where there are fairly recent immigrants from many countries; Government information such as drivers licence, welfare applications, census forms etc have boxes on them in AT LEAST 10 other languages, directing people to where they can get their own language version. There are also versions for the blind and hearing impaired. This is considered fair so the Government communicates with EVERYONE in the country, not just some, and people whose English is not too good (or who can't read) can still participate in the country.

I would look for a loose wire or scorched component INSIDE the printer. This can only be done by someone who knows about the risks of opening electrical devices - ie shocks and warranty problems. OR- TAKE IT TO A SERVICE SHOP.
