I bought a lightscribe (can laser pictures/titles onto a DVD rather than using a sticky label) DVD burner this morning which I have now installed and works perfectly. However my monitor now wont turn on! I have put an old monitor on the computer and this one works fine. My monitor was working fine last night - why won't it work now?! I have a compaq computer and have checked all the connections which appear fine and not lose. There is no power light at all - the screnn just stays blank/black. Can anyone help?

Have LCDs caught up with CRTs? Are there particular models with especially good colour ranges? Is this limited by video card anyway?

When we turn the computer on it comes up with a password thing we enter it and it logs on. Today for some unknown reason, we put the password (it is correct) and it logs in half way but doesnt load up the background desktop with all the icons, its says loading... then after a second it says logging off and goes back to the password bit again! why is it doing that? We pushed in all the plugs and cables and restarted and everything but still does the same. We even toook the side off and cleared away the dust inside. It doesnt even let us in so we can get options up and clear cookies and cache etc. please help! we need the computer! any ideas much appreciated!! Please keep it simple lol x

With regular model computer monitors you can get image burnin, but I haven't heard if LCD screens do the same. Do LCD if left on the same image for long periods of time get image burnin?

My monitor kicks on at first then a black and white scream comes on giving me so many seconds to choose either to start windows normally, or to find the last safe configuraton that works. I've tried both actually and both times the Windows screen will come on but when it gets ready to switch to my desktop, the screen goes blank and my keyboard stops working. What could this be and how can I fix it?

The trial version looked crisp and clear but not the full version. Repair men say they tested computer and it's ok - they're blaming it on my monitor which worked like a dream until they installed Office full version. Changing settings only makes the fonts huge and jagged or too tiny to read. I find it hard to believe the problem is my monitor. I just bought the computer 2 months ago.
