This is called Tab Seperation, and it can't be fixed. You can replace your Laptop LCD screen if it bugs you.
Pressing on the screen/rebooting and so on won't do anything.
If you would like to replace the screen, a good place to look is http://www.screentekinc.com
Good luck

It means there is a line on the screen of your laptop! Depends what you mean by line, really without more information all I can say is it could be a software or hardware problem.
Software
Try booting into safe mode (press F8 what the computers starting to get a menu and select safe mode) this uses some default graphic drivers if that fixes it reinstall your graphics card drivers.
Hardware
If the line is there as soon as your machine boots either the display or the graphics card has gone **** up send it back to the provider and get them to fix it. If its a new machine they do it for free if its not then they wont!

Sounds like a pressure mark, caused from having the laptop closed and perhaps too tightly compressed, so the keyboard or touchpad create an impression on the screen. Just leave it alone, these sometimes fix themselves. if not you may have to buy a new screen.

You misused the screen a little, probably not picking up the laptop the right way. Gently press on top of the line and it will go away. Also try time and rebooting. No harm done, just be more careful...happens to me from time to time.

My brother has a red line in the bottom right corner of the LCD display on his laptop. Yours would not be an IBM would it? If so, it might be an IBM issue. I have no idea what it means, nor do I know how to fix it. Reinstalling Windows does not work, I know that. Installing Linux might, but IBM is evil (they supported the Nazis and profited off the deaths of millions, like Coca-Cola with Fanta), and you cannot get a good thing like Linux to work with an evil thing like IBM.

There really is no way. This could be the result of a dead diode on the side, thus no power is being supplied to the pixels and results in a "dead" line.
