I have tried changing it but it does not change.

4 bit colors? How old is the dam thing? You mite give some details such as manufacturer and model number, etc

Try lowering the resolution then try again. You may need more memory on your video board. The most likely thing is that you do not have the correct drivers loaded so windows is just using a generic driver now. Reload your drivers and see what happens.

I suspect you have installed a wrong driver recently.

If youre using Win XP just right-click on "mycomputer" >>properties
>>hardware(tab) >> device manager
now click on the "+" sign beside the display adapter, now everything under it must be uninstalled, rightclick>>uninstall

restart>> XP will install the correct driver for you

16 colours? must be Windows '98 or older then... find new drivers for you videocard on the internet - might help if you state version of Windows and brand, type and version of videocard.

go to control panel, then display, advanced should tell you what card you have, go to the said website i.e nvidia.com, and download latest drivers, all will soon be Ok

sounds like ur video card....try reinstallin driver and makin sure its enabled ....if it is and says its workin properly then it could be going bad ...time to get a new one or u can get used ones also....
