All of a sudden my computer screen has started to shimmy and shake this evening. Does anyone know what might be wrong with it?

Yeah, mine does that occasionally. It drives me made when it does.

If it is caused by interference, you can often fix it, at least partially, by changing the refresh rate in windows. The refresh rate is how many times per second the screen redraws itself. Different refresh rates respond to different frequencies of interference.

For example if you go into control panel, then display (or right click your desktop and choose properties) and then go to the settings tab, there is an Advanced button. If you click on it you will get to some more tabs, one of which (the adapter or monitor one) will have a drop-down box which lists different refresh rates. Try different ones, and see if there is one which works best for you.

And if that doesn't work you can try the degausing (which should be accessed from a menu button on your monitor itself). Or you can try just switching off your computer and monitor and coming back later and seeing if it fixed on its own.

What kind of screen you are using anyway?
if it's CRT monitor, then try to "degauss" it ( or some people call it demagnatised) try seach for the Magnet symbol in your monitor setting and select it.

if problem still occor, u might have unshielded speaker or other Magnetic device that is going too close with your monitor.

if problem still occur after this 2 step, it might be your monitor that is causing the problem. send it to a certified technician as there's no user servicable parts in a monitor. do not attempt to open the casing in any way.
