I bought a lightscribe (can laser pictures/titles onto a DVD rather than using a sticky label) DVD burner this morning which I have now installed and works perfectly. However my monitor now wont turn on! I have put an old monitor on the computer and this one works fine. My monitor was working fine last night - why won't it work now?! I have a compaq computer and have checked all the connections which appear fine and not lose. There is no power light at all - the screnn just stays blank/black. Can anyone help?

It sounds as though your monitor may have burned out of have a loose connection somewhere. (Maybe within the cord, where you can't touch it.) Installing a new DVD burner wouldn't affect the display of your monitor. Even if you installed a new video card driver, it wouldn't make your screen go blank - it would just change how it displays images. If another monitor worked with the same system, it sounds as though your monitor just coincidentally died when you installed your DVD burner.

Try the broken monitor with another computer to double check, if you want. Sounds as though you might need to buy a new monitor, or stick with that old one... =\
