i have recently purchased a laptop, and the fan turns on every 2 minutes..........is this normal?....

i just purchased a dell inspiron 1520 pc which was just delivered. i charged the system for 5 hrs. then i tried to switch on the system but in vain. the system is not switchin on which I press the power button. what might be the prob. pl help

Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop. Windows Vista basic.
I got a new charger for it and when I hover over the battery icon in the toolbar it says: 0% Available (plugged in, not charging)
Seeing as it's charged 0% whenever it gets unplugged it automatically shuts down. Which is very annoying. Any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks x

Most of the time it's fine, I've got a Toshiba Equium with Vista - it has a little switch at the front to turn on or off the wireless function. Just a while ago I kept getting limited connectivity after about 10 mins of being online, I'd restart it and it would connect ok again. Then I just restarted it again and even thought the switch is on the red light next to it isn't, and when I use the 'connect to' vista function it just tells me to plug a cable into the back (which is what I've now done)! So why oh why is the wireless switching itself off, surely only the switch on the front can control if its off or on!? It's done this before and after many restarts and about an hour it comes back on again. It's a new laptop so should I take it back?

Hello, I'm Emerson and currently I have a very old Dell Desktop computer with 512 RAM and about 80 GB of memory~. But, it's getting kinda slow, and not ready for some gaming I do, I am considering to buy a new computer. I'm looking for something ~$2k and under. I've considered Alienware and Apple, could anyone reccomend some computers that are good for some gaming?

Iam having problems on my laptop (acer 5000)
i turn on my laptop and
it goes to the blue screen.
the scanning screen.
if i let it load it stays on 0% and wont go up.
I can quit it but i think this will be harmful to my laptop.

i hear that keeping a battery in when using ac power will degrade the battery life, is this true? sources?

it doesn't look very aestetically pleasing with a gaping hole where the battery should be. and i'm afraid dust bunnies might make it their new breeding ground if i did...what should i do?

Hey everybody, I cant afford a sony vaio or dell xpsm1330 but i saw this EverexStepnote that was ultra portable 12.1 incher....Im just not sure how much i trust Everex. I'm using linksys WRT54GS and I have made a profile to connect at startup. When I start my computer, there is a gray box in bottom corner, but gray means disabled. If I remove my wireless card, then put in after 10 seconds it turns green and I connect. Is there a way to connect on startup?

I already know if you press FN and f7 and f8 adjusts the colour brightness but what I really want to know is how do you adjust the contrast because I can't actually see the boxes I'm writing in. Remember the contrats not the brightness I need to change.

I reinstalled XP on my laptop cause i was having problems, now the Ethernet drive, Audio, Network, Modem, and Video drives dont work. The wireless dont even work. I have tried to reinstall XP again thinking it would help but still the same thing. So please if you can help me i could really really use it.. I need my laptop for college and i cant use it anymore.. Please help me!
