It looks like your hard drive has failed or its boot sector is badly damaged. Claim warranty if still valid.

Boot the laptop and enter the BIOS. It usually is while starting hit F1 or ESC. It will tell you on the screen. Once in BIOS go to the page with find hard drive on it. See if your is listed. If it is just escape without saving. If it isn't there have the BIOS search automatically for your hard drive. Save and Exit.

Put the XP disk into the CD drive. Then Reboot the machine. You should be OK. (If it does not recognize the CD go back into the BIOS and do the same for the CD Drive).
