I need to get my computer ready for college...and they are asking me to have a lot of requirements. How do I find out the RAM, what Intel I have, free space and if i have an Ethernet card?

Hi Guys I just Purchase My First Macbook ...i hasnt even arrived yet and i would like to know since it it so close to ocyuber would mac offer me a free upgrade to Leapord!!! ...onother think is that i purchased the computer via amazon ....does that affect if a have a problem with the computer and i call apple for assistence ?? or they would help me becauses is their product ???

I have a really bad ibm computer that I got used, it keeps on messing up and I want to wipe it clean. How do I do that? I've completely rebooted my hp before but am not sure what to do for an ibm.

hey so ive been having problems with a dell laptop where when it is plugged in, if you jiggle the cord where it touches the charger , the computer can turn on. But the problem is, whenever the computer turns on, you hear it whirring loudly for a few seconds, screen still black, and then it gets really quiet, screen still black and then it makes a quick beep and turns off. I have tried repeatedly without success to make it work again but it keeps turning off. It is all charged up too. Is there a way i can fix and preferably without buying anything?

I'm getting a laptop when I leave for college next year and I was wondering which brand I should go for. I've used windows on Dell computers all my life, but those cool Mac Vs. Pc commercials caught my attention. =)

I'm sick of windows always screwing my computer up and thought macs look cooler. I don't play any games (besides occasionally Sims2), but instead spend most of my time doing school papers and presentations, and uploading and editing pictures, and going on AIM and the internet.

With this backround information, which would you recommend for me? AND if you suggest Apple, is a Macbook Pro worth it for me? AND, can someone explain how getting the internet works for laptops?

Sorry for this very, very long question. I appreciate it alot though! =)

I have a dell laptop theres no drivers missing for this laptop all my drivers are installed, i cannot hear anything i go 2 my audio properties and it says no audio device, I bought a usb audio device to see if it works and it does work with the usb, its a usb that plugs into the lap top like anyother usb, it has a audio input .... that does work on my lap top but everytime i unplug it and try connecting the cable direclty to the laptop theres no audio ..... please help

I have comcast internet on my desktop. I already have a laptop that is wireless, and I have a netgear router. After 3 hours I finally got it to work with my pc and cable modem. I cannot get it to work with my laptop. I tried using the installation cd and it still wont work because it is asking me to do it the same way i did with my pc but my laptop doesn't have comcast on it, only my pc does. Can somebody PLEASE tell me in detail how to get my wireless router to work with my laptop?? My router is netgear, my laptop is compaq, and my modem is comcast. Thanks.

! really want to buy and Apple iBook because they're cheaper then Dell laptops, because my dad only uses dell and he said ! can't get an Apple because we use Dell.
But can I run windows on an Apple computer??
Please help me because iBooks are soo cheap and the cheapest Dell laptop I've found on Ebay is $300 and they have iBooks for like $120 and I can actually afford that.......
So can I run windows on and Apple iBook??

I have checked Dell.com & Bestbuy and Circuit City and the only way i could get a laptop with a dedicated graphics card was to purchase a model that was at least 300$ more then the other models randing in the low 1000's.

What is the best laptop out there, that i can use for music, videos, Instant Messaging, Internet, typing, among other things. I have heard the Macbook Pro is a good laptop since it can do both mac and windows pc applications but requires you to buy the windows program. So what is the best laptop out there, price doesnt really matter but i would like it under 4,000.
