i have a gateway laptop that works fine and great, but it only works if it is plugged into an outlet in the wall. why is that? what is wrong with it? is it a fualty battery or is there a switch or control i need to adjust?

Hey,

My Hard drive light would randombly blink or stay on for long periods of time randomly when files arnt even in use from the hard drive, im quite computer illiterate, is this spyware gathering information or what?

I've got norton that came with the laptop (bought last month) and spyware s+d and ad-aware

Would could be causing this?

hey guys. um i turnn it on and it says DELL and then it has a loading bar. well it loads alll the way until the end. and then it just freezes and nothing happens. its a brand new computer. maybe a year old. andd i havent loaded anything new on it. its been the same. please help me. my parents spent a lot of money on it and i really need it to work! pleaseeeeeee help would be grea.t thanks!

I'm thinking of selling my Apple Macbook and i've no idea how much to charge. I don't know too much about computers so i'm not entirely sure what model it is so i'll describe it:

I bought it at Toys R Us last year and I think I paid about £750 for it. It's white and is in mint condition with original box and everything that came with it when new.

It has a 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo processor and 512MB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. (Whatever that means!)

What should I charge? I'm in the UK, by the way.

Ok, bear with me. I have a 512 and 256 card, and my operating system runs about 400 ram. If I replace the 256, that will take me from 756 to 1512 ram. Will that double my programs speed because it is double? Or will it quadruple it, because I am going from an excess of 300 ram to 1100 ram? Or is it some other solution?

I work at a hospital that provides free wireless internet access to families and such. Does the hospital have any way of knowing what websites are visited and more importantly whos laptop was used to access them? Furthermore, will the hospital have access to any info on these users computer?

I'm a college student, on a budget. I have a pentium something 1.4ghz, and a 512 ram and a 256 ram chip in it already, but my laptop is agonizingly slow. Manufacturer says I can go up to 1ghz ram chips. Will that make it work better? I don't know squat about computers.

Hello,

All other things being equal (T5300 core 2 duo processor, 1GB ram, 15.4' screen - your basic laptop setup) would I notice any difference in graphics for 2D work in Photoshop and with RAW converters if I was using either of the above graphics setups.

To put it another way: is the Intel GMA950 'good enough' for an enthusiastic amateur photographer to work with? Would the Nvidia be overkill, or useful?

This question only related to 2D photo work - modern gaming and video editing don't need to be considered.

I'm really dissapointed with my Acer Travelmate 2420. Right after the warranty expired, the case cracked near the left hinge from the stress of opening and closing it. I can already see a second crack forming on the opposite side. How can I fix this? And how can I stop the other crack from getting any bigger?

I think this is a serious design flaw from Acer...I'm just glad I didn't pay too much for it.

I have a Apple Macbook.not a pro.And i wanted to buy these computer games like Sims 2 or Roller coaster Tycoon which only runs on Windows.is there something you can download to get Windows instead & play these games?& run Window Movie Maker 2& Window softwares?

In addition,iMovie sucks to me.Whenever i make a amv or something.A 3 min. clip takes 2 GB.Which i cant fit in on youtube which my youtube account only allows you to upload 100mb videos.So i i use those online video editors onetruemedia.com that makes me do montages that takes less space.Im too jaded to go there.So is there a software I can download besides iMovie
that you can edit videos & compress videos that doesnt gobble ub your whole memory?

I'm going to buy a laptop in the next week or two and I want the best computer for the money. I don't know anything about how much memory I need. I need it for my school work and music downloading and burning. Internet use of course too. I'm looking to spend about a grand. any advise would be very appreciated.

1 gig ram, dual 1 ghz cpu.

Brand new, got it last night at Best Buy. Runs Vista. They loaded it up with a bunch of programs, I removed a few.

I read this at crucial.com but I can't really understand what this means. The wording is very tricky. Here it is: "" Each memory slot can hold SDRAM, PC133 with a maximum of 128MB per slot.*

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.""

Does this mean that I can't exceed 128MB of memory or I can't exceed 288MB of RAM? Help?

I want to get the white Macbook with 80gb of hard drive. I have to wait until my birthday in october to get it though.

I'm afraid that with all the extra stuff that leopard has that it will take up too much of the hard drive space.

I will use the computer for school papers, internet, instant messaging, and downloading music. I may install photoshop just to play with when i'm bored.

Do you think leopard will take up a lot of hard drive space?
