I'm really dissapointed with my Acer Travelmate 2420. Right after the warranty expired, the case cracked near the left hinge from the stress of opening and closing it. I can already see a second crack forming on the opposite side. How can I fix this? And how can I stop the other crack from getting any bigger?

I think this is a serious design flaw from Acer...I'm just glad I didn't pay too much for it.

This can be a real problem because what might get damaged is the connection to the screen. We used to have some Dells at work which all developed this problem.

You can get it repaired at Acer for mega bucks...or do what we did with the Dells, find some small little repair shop that will have a go at fixing anything.

For now, I was suggest just leaving it. Glues or resins may affect the internal circuitry from their fumes.

First thing is get some tools out and loosen that hinge area just a tad. If it cracked, it was way too tight. That plastic, I have a pretty good fix for you. One- you can order parts of Flea-Bay if you want it really purdy. Second is ( Dont roll your eyes) Crazy glue. But with a kicker. Head off to a local model plane place.. The kind that builds those wood models. You will find a primer, sometimes a spray, sometimes a small brush on deal. Either way, it's a primer for this crazy glue type adhesive. Once applied, this primer/glue combo works GREAT. It's not like all the other times you've tried t use crazy glue and had it fall apart in your hands seconds later. The primer/accelerator makes all the difference in the world. I use it weekly on plastics and it's never failed yet.
