All other things being equal (T5300 core 2 duo processor, 1GB ram, 15.4' screen - your basic laptop setup) would I notice any difference in graphics for 2D work in Photoshop and with RAW converters if I was using either of the above graphics setups.

To put it another way: is the Intel GMA950 'good enough' for an enthusiastic amateur photographer to work with? Would the Nvidia be overkill, or useful?

This question only related to 2D photo work - modern gaming and video editing don't need to be considered.

No, there wouldn't be any difference. These are 3D graphics accelerators - working in Photoshop won't benefit.
