laptop doesn't work unless plugged into power outlet.?

i have a gateway laptop that works fine and great, but it only works if it is plugged into an outlet in the wall. why is that? what is wrong with it? is it a fualty battery or is there a switch or control i need to adjust?

Yes, more than likely your battery is dead. If it's been plugged in for a while the batter should charge. If not, then you need a new battery.

Your battery is dead and wont hold a charge. Buy a new Battery
