I read this at crucial.com but I can't really understand what this means. The wording is very tricky. Here it is: "" Each memory slot can hold SDRAM, PC133 with a maximum of 128MB per slot.*

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.""

Does this mean that I can't exceed 128MB of memory or I can't exceed 288MB of RAM? Help?

I don't want to trash it because I am using it to experiment with Linux. That is a Linux PC running Xubuntu. I am editing Xubuntu to what I want, and I bought it for 200 bucks running Windows 98, that was a LOT of money back in the day of Windows 98. I just recently took it out of storage.

Your maximum RAM is 128MB x the # of slots you have. If you have 2 slots then your computer can only handle 256MB of RAM (2 times 128MB). SDRAM PC133 is the type of RAM.

It means you can't exceed 128MB or RAM per slot.

Your total ram would be number of slots times 128 -

If I was you, I would trash that PC. It is OLD.

With four slots that would only give you 512 MB of RAM and that is not sufficient to run VISTA and just barley Run XP.

Each slot can only hold 128 MB of RAM. If you have two slots, then you can install up to 256 MB of RAM.

it means the you can only use sticks of PC133SDRAM of 128M or less, and, of course, only as many sticks as there are slots.

so max ram would be 128M*number of slots.
