desktop h/ds won't bwork internally in a laptop but from what i've seen most laptop h/ds are the same size. don't be fooled by the holder it's mounted in from what i saw on another post today the dell csx is'nt worth replacing the h/d in. unless it was given to you free and you can get a good price on a h/d off e-bay = sniping is the way to buy on e-bay cheap.

Well, considering Dell and Apple don't make their own hard drives, you probably will be looking at a Hitachi, Samsung, Seagate, or Western Digital hard drive. As long as the drives are the same form factor (size, connectors, etc) you can swap them out pretty easy. You'll have to restore you OS or, if your old drive is still working but flaky, you might get away with cloning the drive. But that is more complex than I'm willing to type. LOL

I have used a Dell hard drive from a different model, I just measured the size of the new one & only had to change the little plastic piece from my old one to the new one & installed it. It's working fine.

the HDD are normally made by companies like Seagate....
I was going to buy a HP laptop HDD for £100 until I seen the exact same, (as it was made by seagate) for £55.
