My daughter is starting college next month, we got her a top end Dell laptop. Now here is my question she say XP is better for what she will need it for a college but Vista is now the operating system Dell wants to install. HELP, I need some up to date advice time is short.

i was looking on ebay at a phone and i installed the picture as an active icon by mistake now its in the middle of my screen how do i get rid of it please its not there when i looked at desktop icons on my pc anyone help please thank you its quite a big picture it said install as desktop item and i did by mistake sorry

I would like to use it for e-mail, photos & pictures store, and office purpose etc.

Kindly suggest me, is it ok for me?

I have a Powerbook G4 that once had 80 GB, but now has a little over 1GB. I've been erasing files trying to free up space, but its still not changing much. Do those updates that Macs always suggest you doing take up space, like updates for the iPod and iTunes and Firefox and Photoshop? If they do, how can I delete those update files? I have tons of pictures and songs, maybe thats whats taking up alot of the space. Please help, thank you.

My cat likes to sit on my husbands laptop when it's open. Well now I can't type letters on it.. if I hit a letter it types a number... should be a quick fix, but I'm not certain what to do.

I am an avid photographer and I take many photos and they're big. (10.2MP Nikon D40x). I'm geting a Mac for the upcoming school year and would like to know which one I should get. I don't do very much editing, ie. no photoshop, but I do like to make minor changes. My biggest thing though is storage. So how many GB do I need? Do I need a Pro to work with my photos? I'd much rather get a Macbook, but will it be enough? Any info would be much appreciated.

My friend and I do some DJ'ing so we got a wireless broadband internet card for his laptop so we can download requests if need be. It works fine. His laptop is pretty nice, runs on Win XP, plenty RAM, Disk Space, quick processor and so forth. Here is my Question: Is there a program he can download that will enable it to work as GPS Navigation for when we are on roadtrips??? I mean, its no biggie if it cant because we can always just use yahoo maps or mapquest or whatever, but a computer is a very powerful thing and I told him "I'm sure there's some way to do it!" but then I didnt really know where to look. So I'm posting this question, then I'm going to go look while yall answer it. That way maybe someone will mention something i hadn't found. :)

I'm buying a computer as a sophomore in high school. If I buy a laptop now, I'll be using it as a desktop for the next 2 years but I'll be able to take it with me to college. Couldn't I take a desktop or would I need something portable to take into my classes or would I be getting a newer one by then?
