The main difference between these processors are the prices. AMD is usually cheaper than Intel.
At the moment Intel has the faster processor, thus one could say it's better than AMD.
But this all comes down to personal preference. I myself prefer intel as it can handle 4 movie players, images and music at the same time, whereas when i tested it on my AMD machine, it only lasted what 5 minutes. (AMD Machine had better cooling and specs too!)

If you search 'Intel VS AMD' in google, you'll find lots of websites with more details.

Hi. AMD came up with a way of handling data transfers within the CPU that made the chips faster. This lead has dwindled over time but I am still an AMD fan.

Currently, similarly clocked Intel core 2 duo processors outperform it's AMD counterparts.
But the only real difference is that they come from two different companies.
