it crashed while doing a back up and now won't do anything at all everything is greyed out

I would do sfc/scannow This should fix the problem. If not then get in touch with ACER. Just go to command prompt and type sfc/scannow then hit enter. It will look for the missing files. If one is missing, then it will ask for the operating cd. (xp vista) Hope this helps

im Hoggie by the way join .. we have a couple of acer tech guys who are members.

EDIT don't bother with acer tech support most of there blokes are on our site now lol

You may have to reset it to factory settings and lose all.When you switch on.Press ALT +F10 together and hold for a few seconds 5-7You may have to try few times before it comes on
screen.It will ask set to factory settings or from disc.If you haven't put a password on yet.Do it.
