OK, this is kind of complicated for me to explain. I have a MAC PowerBook G4 with OSX, most of the time when I am using it do to normal, routine stuff, the thing 'puts itself to sleep' or just kind of acts like I closed the screen with it still on. The power doesn't turn off though. The only way for me to get it to come back up on hte screen is to press the power button though. This happens when I'm using the battery and when it is plugged in. This is now starting to happen more frequently and it is really annoying! Any suggestions on what I can do to stop this? I hope it is just a setting I can mess with.

Thanks!

This is what the blue screen says:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk fragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:
***STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x82954980, 0xc0000102, 0x00000000)

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, the end. The only problem is I HAVE seen tis screen again and now whenever I try to start my computer at all it stops at this screen. Any help is highly appreciated!

My laptop battery is fairly new (I even did the self check on the battery, and it says it is still good), but my computer will not stay on for more than 10 seconds without the AC adapter. Is there something wrong with the battery or is the problem coming from inside the computer?

There are many reasons why I consider buying a laptop:
1-My CD burner doesn't work anymore, so this laptop would solve this problem.
2-My desktop-PC doesn't have a DVD-burner, the laptop does.
3-I also don't have a DVD /reader/, and, of course the laptop does.
4-My computer makes too much noise, I feel like in a factory, it makes so much noise, I mean, it's noisy.
5-My destop PC smells like... gas, and I fear respiration problems because of this.
6-It makes a terrible heat in summer, and, I'm in a... very hot location, it isn't comfortable in summer over here.
7-I don't need games and stuff on my computer, I only browse the web, view photos, and burn CDs, listen to music...
8-A laptop would be easier to transport (to the reperator) if it crashes or something.
9-It has more hard-drive memory, more perfomance, and Windows Vista.
It is, btw a Toshiba Satellite A100-335, so it's a bit pricey, and another contra-point is that I don't get out of my house with it. So what do you thi

i'm thinking of formating my laptop!
though the thing is i dont have any of the driver's cds..
the good thing is i bought a software online tht could backup all used drivers to anywhere i want to so i guess tht problem is solved..
though the thing is im worried bout the special features tht the laptop has!
like showing me the temperature of the cpu and so on..
and using the keyboard shortcuts.. like (play/stop/www/refresh/search/favorites/mail/mute/my computer/calculator)

and those softwares tht help me set a profile for the laptop when its on electricity or using just its batteries...

Here's the deal. I am in a newly created position where I work out of a satelite office. I bring my personal laptop to work, as my position entails MANY duties with a computer that would take too long to explain-- letters, fliers, posters, email, research, etc. Our school director at first said I could come to the school once in a while to do computer work, which is just CRAZY. So, until they could justify the budget, I said I'd bring my own from home.

Now that I have been in this position six months and have shown the need for it-- I brought it up again. How silly is this for crying out loud-- I have to make a list of 20 reasons to justify the need for a computer. Are you kidding me? At any rate, I have listed my specific things I do on the computer..... I am looking for some other answers-- such as any laws about personal computers containing company info (do I own it?), etc. Things that will wow them.

Thanks so much!!

I have a dell xps m1210 notebook and I was wondering what carrying case i shold get for it. The dimensions are as follows:

Width: 11.70"
Height: 1.20"
Depth: 8.70"
Weight (lbs): 4.4

I just can't decide what to get. I think I want a hard plastic case because its a really nice piece of machinery and I'm always hesitant to put it in my backpack or carry it around so I want a hard case for it. Any suggestions of what case to get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My Dell Latitude D600's processor died and the computer will not turn on. I tried removing the hard drive from the computer and the carrier and using it on an Inspirson 1150, and although I could view the files, I could not save any to a cd. I just received a new Latitude D620, but the hard drive from my old computer won't fit into the new one- the prongs don't match up. I did not really want to go to the Geek Squad and have them remove my files- I have personal things on there- and I don't have access to another laptop. What should I do? How else could I get the files (word, pictures, music) off of the hard drive??? PLEASE HELP!
