My laptop battery is fairly new (I even did the self check on the battery, and it says it is still good), but my computer will not stay on for more than 10 seconds without the AC adapter. Is there something wrong with the battery or is the problem coming from inside the computer?

Clean the contacts then reinstall the battery. If nothing happens, check the battery w/ a multimeter. If voltage is low, one of the cells is probably dead.
