when l had ME and shut down off the start button the macine stayed off. Now with XP it will shut down and immediately boot back up. Help

I had the same problem (I've had netvistas too). Generally its a problem with the operating system (Windows). In some cases, Windows XP doesn't like your computer BIOS's power management features/settings (ACPI). You can try going to http://www.ibm.com and and downloading updated power management software/drivers for your netvista (IBM has a wonderful website for support, just go to the support section, search for your computer by model number and browse the downloads).
