That is how the battery is recharged. So you do want to use the laptop, plugged in, with the battery in it to charge it.

However, some manufacturers recommended that if you rarely use the battery, and it often goes a week or more without running unplugged, that once charged you remove the battery. This can make the battery last longer, and protect you should the battery break and leak acid.

You just want to be sure to check it once a week to keep it charged.

It's ok.. but for myself personally I do not have the battery inserted when I am using power source. One reason is that I do not wish to continue charging the battery when it is already fully charged. I prefer to leave the battery out when I have power source.

I think most laptops need the battery installed in order to complete the circuit for the power adapter to work. I have a Toshiba Tecra 8100 w/a shot battery, and it won't power up with the adapter without the battery.

well......that is the only way to recharge it. i leave my in all the time and have had no problems the two years i have owned it
