Laptops & Notebooks - February 2007

I have a lap top and had milk above where i had my lap top stupid i know. The milk as you might have guess feel. It hit primarily my screen and now like part is bright and the other part is viewable but darker almost like it had been bleached. Can you give me an idea on how to fix it. Can you get a new screen for a lap top?

I will be getting a new laptop soon, and i heard great things about the Macbooks. I never had a Mac and always used Windows. I heard the new Macs can run both however. Do i need any software for this 2 happen. Wouldnt I need 2 buy some kind of software to enable Mac to run windows and then buy Windows itself?

I heard that Mac isnt all that hard 2 learn, is this true? If i get just a Mac and not one with Windows what happens if someone emails me a Microsoft Word file...can I open it? what about a Microsoft powerpoint file? And vice versa if i create either of these files with a Mac can Windows people access them without a problem? What versions of Windows can....can Microsoft Vista? XP?

As a college student who is leaning towards a Mac what is everything I will need.....what Mac exactly, software, 2nd battery, ac adapter, case, wireless mouse, etc....what is EVERYTHING computer related that I will need?

It is for computers.. I am thinking about purchasing a laptop, should i get the tv tuner as well or not.. what is it? and will it have closed captioning?...... I am hard of hearing.... Any advice? Thanks,

hi, ive had my laptop about 11 months and now it will not charge yet the battery says its 80% charged already and it will only run on ac power when disconnected from the mains it automaticly switches off plaese help

I am very new to all of this. I have a laptop, but have never taken it outside of my house. I was wanting to have anybody who is knowledgeable about "wireless internet cards"? tell me how easy it has gotten to be able to take your laptop to , say India or Eastern Europe and be able to use your laptop wirelessly without needing to plug it into anything?

Please inform me how and how easily this can be done, I am very computer illieterate.

when i put on my laptop it loads for some time then goes off without any error message.this could be 2-6 min after booting.when i try putting it on again it would not come on unless i unplug and plug again the power cable.
it used to work fine afterwards but now it does not anymore.can anyone help pliz

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop model P35-S609. We bought it several years ago.

Sometimes the audio works and sometimes it doesn't. Right now the audio doesn't work when I try to listen to an internet TV program such as on www.cbsnews.com. But when I boot up and shut down the computer, the normal Microsoft Windows XP type command sounds are heard.

My Dell laptop broke today and it seems it's a software error. Before I do a full reset to factory settings, I want to retrieve some data. Most of my stuff is backed up but there are recent files from this week that I want to access. How can I do this without calling in technicians? I have another computer I could hook it up to and I don't really want to unscrew the interface, so a lead or something would be best. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi. Tricky one this... I recently had my laptops hard drive fail miserably to the extent of it being totally unusable or fixable. I got a new hard drive for the laptop but every time I try to install windows back onto it it doesn't get very far before the dreaded blue screen appears that says all manner of stuff about needing to shut down. I have wiped the hard drive and started from scratch a number of times and still I can't make it work. Are there any theories out there as to why this might be? It is an old laptop but other than the hard drive there isn't any other issues. Thanks

I have a Sony VAIO VGN-FS770/W 15.4" Notebook PC (Intel Pentium M Processor 750, 1024 MB RAM, 100 GB Hard Drive, DVD+R Dbl Layer/DVD+/-RW Drive).
