How can I fix my computer so the audio works consistently?

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop model P35-S609. We bought it several years ago.

Sometimes the audio works and sometimes it doesn't. Right now the audio doesn't work when I try to listen to an internet TV program such as on www.cbsnews.com. But when I boot up and shut down the computer, the normal Microsoft Windows XP type command sounds are heard.

do you have the latest flash player installed? i see that site uses flash for thier shows. more and more sites are using flash. go to www.adobe.com and download the newest flash player, adobe flash player 9
