It is for computers.. I am thinking about purchasing a laptop, should i get the tv tuner as well or not.. what is it? and will it have closed captioning?...... I am hard of hearing.... Any advice? Thanks,

Hi. It's a card with a cable input that picks up TV signals from a cable or antenna. This cable is separate from the cable modem. Most will include several versions of CC, such as displaying it in another window. I use an ATI TV Wonder LE, about $40.

A TV Tuner card is an interface card that you can plug a cable connection into to watch tv on your laptop (basically turning your laptop into a TV). It depends on what software you get with it, but I think the majority of tv software has the option for captions.

tv tuner allows you to use your laptop as a tv screen. closed captioning would be based on the tv tuner software included with the laptop.
