Hmmm
OK, if you are using the touchpad, and it is old, try plugging a USB mouse in and see if that works. If so, you touchpad is either turned off or broken.

Also, try slowly moving your mouse or finger onthe toughpad. Sometimes the cursor moves too fast to see, or gets confused by fingernails or jerky movements.

Lastly, go to the computer settings and see if the pointing device is turned off.

Well, it's becuase it's porbably not plugged into the usb right. Look on either the side or back of the laptop. If that doesn't work, look to see if it is compatible to your computer type.

If that didn't work, turn off your computer, then plug in the mouse. Turn on your computer, and that should work.

If that doesn't work, just try plugging and unplugging it in quickly while the computer is turned on.

I have this problem all the time on my laptop.

Hope this helps!

if you still can't get it to work,
then goto control panel -> system properties -> hardware -> device Manager -> EXPAND mice and other pointing device then remove the installed mouse driver then press F5 or click on that key that shows the right mouse menu from your keyboard then choose scan for hardware changes
i'm sure you can get it to work if your hardware dose not get damaged :)
all this can be done using keyboard (arrows and tab key)

hope this helps
