I have a Compaq Presario 7476. I had Win98 but I've tried to install Win2000 on it. The computer is okay, but my monitor is a Compaq B440, which is working only with the standard 16 colors. I would like to know if there is a way I can make my monitor work with this new Windows or if I need to format it back to Windows 98. If this is the case, how can I do it? Please, friends, help! Thanks.

How do I know which memory card I have to get? Can you have any kind? What I mean is, my cousin says I can only get PC3200 type memory cards. Can I use PC2700 or PC100, PC5300 type memory cards?? Or do I HAVE to use PC3200? I see cheaper ones that aren't PC3200 so I'm just wondering. I have a Dell Dimension 8400 by the way.

I have tried many things, but whenever I have the 5200 plugged into the mobo, I get a blank screen... the computer boots up, but the monitor sits in stand-by mode. I have removed the Intel drivers and running standard VGA, I have set the BIOS (before plugging video card in) to use the AGP first, and have tried the video card on another computer and it worked straight away... Now I am out of ideas.
Has anyone got any ideas that might be able to solve this issue?

Thanks
Yuley

Few months, burning dvds no problem but in the last few weeks it will occasionally come back with "burn process failed". I've burned about 50 dvds (and a handful of cds) since I bought the machine and I've experienced this error about 5 times. It always appears to happen at the same point in the burn process but it doesn't happen everytime. I have XP and use Nero 7 via DVD Shrink to burn. I've checked Samsung website and there are no firmware updates for my model.
I haven't changed anything on my PC and I've been working with the same blank DVD+Rs (bought one pack of 50, never used anything else). Based on Nero report of error:
#31 SPTI -1135 File SCSIPassThrough.cpp, Line 290
E: CdRom0: SCSIStatus(x02) WinError(0) NeroError(-1135)
Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)
#32 CDR -1135 File Writer.cpp, Line 302
Write error
E: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552D
Any advice?

Looked at back of e-drive see the 4 wire power leed and the ied connector, no problem removing power leed but the ied connector is another story, cant grab any part of it,is there any specialty tool used to remove this? Is it acceptable to grab the ribbon and fold it over the connector and gently pull and try and remove it that way?
Need a little insight about the jumper setting also.

DVDs are said to hold 4.7gb but in reality only hold about 4.4gb. I'm guessing it's because the manufacturers measure bytes in 1000s instead of 1024s. But if that's the case, how come CDs can hold their advertised amount, and sometimes an extra couple mb?

I have a Compaq Presario that I added memory to about a year ago. As my sister has the same computer and we both are Sims 2 fiends, we have decided that the 768 MB of RAM we have now is insufficient. I was going to get a portable hard drive since both spaces for memory modules are now occupied but someone told me to have a new internal hard drive put in because I have an empty expansion bay. I'm not sure how any of it works and would appreciate some help in deciding please.

I currently have an NVidia Geforce 5700LE 256Mb AGP and want to replace it, I don't want a top of the range card, but something that will certainly last me a while. I'm a gamer so to give an idea, I play a lot of BF2142 etc, so want something that will run that nicely.

PC Spec: AMD 3200+ X64, 2Gb RAM, Win XP Pro, 250Gb Partitioned HD.
