Looked at back of e-drive see the 4 wire power leed and the ied connector, no problem removing power leed but the ied connector is another story, cant grab any part of it,is there any specialty tool used to remove this? Is it acceptable to grab the ribbon and fold it over the connector and gently pull and try and remove it that way?
Need a little insight about the jumper setting also.

Just pull the ribbon and it will come out. Don't pull too hard if it doesn't come out or you might break it...try wiggling it a little bit too.

As for jumper settings, you will really want to use either Master or Slave...I have seen many problems with using Cable Select so I don't recommend using that.

just give it a good yank...it's not really secured in there tight

the jumper options are usually printed directly on the drive itself (if you can decipher the archaic hieroglyphs)...if not then take a look at the manual.

If you have a 2nd device on the same ide you want to keep that in mind when you set the jumper....take a look at if the drive you're removing was set to cable select or master or slave and then duplicate that setting. Or just pull the 2nd drive as well and set them both however you prefer.

cheers!
