Add-ons - March 2007

Ive been upgrading my friends PC by adding a little more ram and adding a dvd drive also (it used to just have a cd burner). Is there anywhere i can get instructions on wiring in the new drive as i'm having some trouble getting it to work as the computer says second slave drive incompatible. I must have wired it up slightly wrong. Any help is most welcome.

I Need A cd Combo Drive for my disk top Computer.
I need it to burner
CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW, and Read all types of disk.
It need Play DVD too.
Can’t make any noisy
Must come from newegg.com
Need to have very good Reviewers
Will be a + to me if you own it and use it and love how it work.
I will pay $20 to $40 only!

I got this computer and it worked great. But about a week ago, the cd and dvd drive aren't recognized. It sees the floppy drive, but not the cd drives. How can I fix this problem? Thanks

When I try to burn a CD iTunes displays the message: "Disc burner or software not found..." My labtop is new and I'm wondering if there are drivers that I need or something. I've never burnt a CD on the computer, but I'm sure I do have a CD burner.

i bought a new digital camera and the only way it will run on a computer is if it has windows 2000 or higher..... and unfortunatly our computer is only running on 98.. is there anyway i can up grade it to 2000 on the net for free?? if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it!!! thank you!

I have had so much trouble since the world has gone from the little 3.5 inch disks to CD's! Why is this? It isn't as easy as it used to be to save something on a CD. Will you please give me some info on how I can save things on a CD? I would like to put pictures on a CD and also put my Quick Books backup on a CD. Help!!! I am trying to use a CD-RW 650MB for my QB Backup. Is this the right CD? What CD do I need? It keeps telling me I dont have a CD in my drive or my CD is full (which it's not because it's brand new). Is there something about formating that needs to be done? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have dell dimesion 4550 i want to upgrade. what would i need to:
A). Make its super fast
B). Make it computer games with out frezzing
C). More memmory
D). Better internet surfing
E). Less noisier

Any ideas?, the spending limit is like $500 dollers, but i want the best the computer can handle.

Hi, currently i'm running a pci geforce 5500 (256), but i'm in need of an upgrade. I was considering buying a gefore 7900 or ati x1600 because i don't want to spend more than 200 dollars.

now to the question, can i run two graphics cards stably or if i buy a new card should i take the old one out? Also, which graphic card would u recommend?

first of all i want to upgrade my graphics card from ati mobile radeon to geforce 7300. and also want to upgrade from 512mb ram to 1gb. Will this be possible to upgrade on my laptop? my laptop is a IBM think pad with a little mouse in the middle of the keyboard. but i do not use that since i have my own plug in mouse. Please write back if upgrading on this device is possible.

I purchased a Pioneer 11D from eBay a while back but it's not working any more, well DVDs etc.. don't show up, in device manager rather than saying Pioneer 11D, it says Prolific 3507 and has an exclamation mark next to it..

I need the drivers to reinstall but I can't find them - I connect via firewire...

OK, before anyone answers, this is a problem with switching on my computer speakers. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with the sound card.

Really frustrated here!!

I've just moved and I've hooked up my computer. Everything is working fine, except my speakers won't turn on.

The one speaker with the switch has cord correctly running from the back of the speaker down to the correseponding jack on the hard drive.

The other speaker has a cord that is plugged into the back of the speaker with the switch. Still, my speakers do not switch on.

I can't run any game that requires DirectX9.0c. Everytime I install it, setup states that all components have already been installed. But after restarting my PC, my dxdiag still shows that I have DirectX 8.1!!!

Have a dell bluetooth mouse and keyboard bundle, while moving house i lost the usb stick for the bluetooth, do i have to get a new keyboard/mouse or can i just buy the usb stick for it. Any help would be appreciated.

I am planning on purchasing a DVD drive for my computer from ebay. How much would it cost me to go into a shop and get it put in?

Also, I heard of a DVD drive that you can connect with a chord to your computer and you don't need anyone to install it, is this true? If so, how much are they?

I plug it into my computer and it shows the id. Then it shows all the files I have saved in it. But the thing is when I try to save anything in it, it just gives me an I/O device error. Or sometimes it says too many files open when it is not the case. Some times it says that the device is too full which is not the case either. Sometimes it says that could not access to device. When I go to the device's properties in Device Manager, it shows that 'the device is working properly'. But it is not 'cos it is not saving anything in it. Anyone with any tips??
