I got this computer and it worked great. But about a week ago, the cd and dvd drive aren't recognized. It sees the floppy drive, but not the cd drives. How can I fix this problem? Thanks

sounds like you've got either a loose cable or somehow the controller driver is glitched.

Go to Device manager and see if you see a Yellow & Black ! or a Red X beside the IDE ATA ATAPI Controller

Even if it doesn't show these, I'd suggest you Right Click on it and select remove.

Shutdown your computer, NOT Restart, wait about 2 mins than restart, Windows should find it and reinstall the drivers.

If you have Windows XP:

Right Click on My Computer and select Properties, then select Hardware Tab and Click on Device Manager.

See if drivers for your CD/DVD drives are properly installed and they are not in conflict with any other resource.

If required, install or re-install the drivers. Though XP should do it automatically for you.

If nothing works, then restore your system back. See Windows help for further detail.

depending on your version of windows you may have plug and play if so it should be as easy as:
shut down
open the computer
disconnect the drive
restart the computer
shut down again
plug drive back in
restart computer again
follow plug and play wizard directions

check the connections inside the computer.

Unplug them and plug them back in.
