i want to upgrade my computer?

Question

I have dell dimesion 4550 i want to upgrade. what would i need to:
A). Make its super fast
B). Make it computer games with out frezzing
C). More memmory
D). Better internet surfing
E). Less noisier

Any ideas?, the spending limit is like $500 dollers, but i want the best the computer can handle.

A) add more memory like 2gb and a dual core proccesor
B) add a 512 mb graphic card
C)Add internal or external hard drive for 250 to 500 gb
D)use a broadband net connection
E) place your pc in dustfree n clean room and check and mobilize fans regularly.

without knowing exactly what motherboard you have i couldnt tell you what memory to buy to upgrade it to. just googling for your model makes me think that your motherboard is too old to find a processor upgrade very easily besides ebay. you would need to find out what socket type your board is and then just search for that socket type on ebay and see how much a faster processor would run you.

as far as trying to make it super fast you could try and find out what type of memory you have (DDR, DDR2, something older). i would also suggest wiping your hard drive and reinstalling windows. this can clear off all the unused files that have been collecting on your drive since you last wiped it first got it whatever.

lastly as far as the running games is concerned your video card is your limiting factor there. again it all goes back to your motherboard and find out if it has PCI PCI-e and then finding out what video card you are using now and look for a better one. you could wind up spending WAY more than what your budget is on just you video card.

overall i just guess from what im finding on google about what might be in your current PC and based on the level of the questions you are asking without offering an specs i would suggest it might just be easier for you to save a bit more money and buy a whole new system.

for $500, you aren't going to get that great of a computer..

You wouldn't be able to make it "super fast", but you could add more memory..

The computer hardware doesn't determine the speed of your internet. You need to buy a faster connection.

If you want to build a high-middle end gaming computer, you would need at least $800

Hi. A) Superfast for gaming means the best graphics card you can afford and the best RAM and plenty of it. B) See A. C) See A. D) At least a cable modem. E) Liquid cooling. Not nearly as hard as it once was. My system is liquid cooled.

Well, if you have WindowsXP, you should go to Microsoft.com and get all the recent upgrades from Microsoft...and also download the Service Pack 2 if you still haven't it. That's my advice.
