it's not my main hard drive, it's a secondary hard drive...

yes but make hdd master and dvd drive slave.

it's ok if u connected u'r both drives carefully connect the dvd drive & hard drive with a seprate connector in cable the top connector connect in master and the lower connector in slave
and the last connector in mother board. u can make any one drive master or slave it's no problem but if u make hard drive master it's better. in back of hard drive and dvd drive change the jumper setting make hard drive master and dvd drive salve. if u use a ide drives use 80 pin cable.

if they are both IDE connectors no problem. It's a wide connector with 2 rows of pins. Make sure you set the hard drive jumper to be a master and the DVD to be a slave. Don't trust Chip Select

It's a little awkward unless you can get the hardrive secure up in the larger drive bay....but yeah it will work as long as you have one set as master and the other as slave.
