I'm a long time PC user but want to buy my first Macbook. I want the mobility of a laptop, but do not want it too big, i.e. 17". When I pretend to buy one online I just get overwhelmed. I would like to buy a very basic set up and then add things as I go or need them. I want to use this for photo editing, video editing and maybe someday music creation. I am wanting to add programs like photoshop and possibly XP and other programs.

Could anybody advise me on what is the most basic set up I could buy and add to? Like I don't know if laptops can add RPMs, memory, hard drive and other essentials after purchase. Since I want to work with websites as well, would a 13" be too small? Does mac make a GREAT 13" model that can do everything I've suggested and allow me to grow with it? I have a little money to spend, but I don't want to go overboard on too much RAM, Memory or hard drive or screen size if I don't really need it or will never fill it up in my life time!

Thanks!

I was looking on ebay and I found a Panasonic Toughbook CF-28 with GPS. It says it has 30 GB of hard drive capacity. would that be a good laptop for large games? (like would 30 GB be enough to play World of Warcraft AND The Sims? which are two very large games which take up a lot of hard drive space.) And for those of you who have Toughbooks , does the laptop have a built in internet card?

I recently purchased a Dell with duo core 1.8, and 1g ram, 64k vid card raytheon9500. This seems to meet the min req on the box. But when I start to play, the game shuts down.

Q: what can I do to improve the performance of my machine so I can play this $50 game?
Is it possible to change the video card on a notebook?
Would adding RAM solve this issue?

Any ideas?

I already had a dual video card in my computer and have used it now for over a year. Well, I had to recover my computer and now I have to set it up again. I know that I have to go into the control panel but I can't figure it out from there. I called Best Buy Geek Squad but they want to charge me money. Can anyone help me?

It's selling for $700 and the description is:
1GB Ram
160GB hard drive
integrated webcam and microphone
windows vista home premium
HP Quickplay
LightScribe SuperMulti DVD drive with double-layer support

I'm going to use it for college, so is this laptop sufficient? Thanks for the help.

I am looking at a bunch of laptops that can play some games and still be fast. I am not looking at high priced laptops with non-integrated video cards or core 2 duos or stuff like that. I am on a low budget and just lookin at the normal processors and INTEGRATED video cards.

Can you tell me which processors out of these is good for gaming and which ones arent?
-AMD Turion™ 64 MK-36
-AMD Turion 64 MK-38
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-53
-Mobile AMD Sempron 3500+
-AMD Turion 64x2
-Intel Pentium Dual Core

Can these video cards play games such as Day Of Defeat? Please tell me which ones can and which ones cant

-Nvidea GeForce Go 6150
-ATI Radeon Xpress 1150
-Nvidea GeForce Go 6100
-ATI Radeon Xpress 1100
-ATI Radeon Xpress 200m

dont say anything bout free sony vaio laptops
Dont say anything about non integrated cards (I KNOW THEY ARE GOOD!)
Just tell me which ones are better...you can choose over 1 for each category

Thank you for your answers...I am really stuck
