I recently purchased a Dell with duo core 1.8, and 1g ram, 64k vid card raytheon9500. This seems to meet the min req on the box. But when I start to play, the game shuts down.

Q: what can I do to improve the performance of my machine so I can play this $50 game?
Is it possible to change the video card on a notebook?
Would adding RAM solve this issue?

Any ideas?

Ok, for those that said I need to give the game info...
Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars.Game Reqs...
OS: windows,XP, Vista (32 bit)
CPU: 2.0g or faster(2.2g or faster for Vista)
Ram: 512m (1g for Vista) or more
video card with 64m or more AND
ATI Radeon 8500(9500 for Vista) or greater.

My machine has :
1.8 duo core CPU
1g RAM
64m Radeon 9500 video card
and runs Vista.

The game starts up normally. All game settings are default(lowest). As soon as I place a refinery, the game shut down. No error msgs. Just minimizes to the tool bar at bottom and will not recover.

Doe this help?

Hard to say what the problem is without knowing what the error messages are!

Have you compared the game's system requirements to your system's specs? If you system doesn't meet the minimum specs it may not run or will run poorly.

You generally can't upgrade the video subsystem on a laptop. You can and should ensure that you have the latest device drivers, not just for the video by all of your system's hardware.

Adding RAM may or may not help. Again, without knowing the game's system requirements it's impossible to say.

Name the game
Give the exact specs of the game
Buy a new computer or give up on the game.

when the game shuts down..any errors? have you tried adjusting your resolution? changing laptop parts is a costly and risky move...look at the little things first
