Either someone nearby has the same brand and similar model of TV or your TV is glitching. I'm guessing that most likely your TV remote is using Infrared Technology, you can usually tell this by looking at the front end of the remote, if there is an area that looks semi-clear and you can slightly make out a little bulb, this is IR. If you dont have a smokey cover at the end of your remote you might be using Radio Frequency or RF.

If you're using IR, it sounds like your TV might be the problem, as IR signals are not usually found randomly bouncing around in homes. IR can not travel through glass or walls, so the interference, if there were any, would have to be comming from within your home.

If you're using RF, the most likely cause is another RF remote at one of your neighbors houses. As an example, all DirectTV remotes are RF. Most RF remotes and receivers (TV) have a channel selection menu. You would change the RF channel on your remote AND on your receiver. This should eliminate the problem with RF.

Hope some of this helps.
