Hardware - March 2007

Alright I just got all the pieces for my computer that I am building and I have the motherboard set inside the tower/case.and I got the processor set in the proper place.The graphic card is also set where it is suppose to be,the power supply is where its suppose to be and.I also have the CD Drive and Hard Drive where they are suppose to be.I need to make sure that all the power supply wires are going to go into the right places.I am not sure that I have everything plugged right but it looks like it to me and my cousin agrees with me as well.So please help.

I am getting my first note book

Im not much of a gamer, but Ill end up downloading a few games on there, with a lot of listening to music and video editing

I dont know where to go sony, microsoft, dell, I can spend 700-1200$ because they fit in my payment per month range

I would like a pretty good sized screen fast processor, all of that, any suggestions let me know thanks!

Hello, I have a Compaq Presario SR1550NX which comes with a 2.4GHz AMD 3400+ processor. I just bought a new graphic card because the standard onboard one just wasnt doin it.. after i installd the card.. i went to PROPERTIES on MY COMPUTER and saw that it now says 1.8GHz.. What does this mean?.. why did it decrease speed.. I have a ATI RADEON x1300 PRO AGP 8x card.. Am i still gettin my 2.4GHz but it just says 1.8 or is it really currently onli runnin at 1.8.. Thankss in advance.

I have 2 computers in my home network. When I look at My Network Places on either computer, I find that the network places are listed under 3 separate headings: (1) computer name, (2) 2d computer's name, and (3) "This computer". - I can't see any reason why some places are listed under computer name and others are listed under "This computer". What is the difference between the named computer and "This computer"?

I Called Sony a hundred times they don’t have it. I look at the Sony website they don’t have it. Last night I knocked over a glass of water on the keyboard of my MacBook. I immediately turned it upside down, dried off the water, and left it upside down with a space heater blowing warm air underneath it. (At this time, I also took out the battery, wiped the tiny amount of water off it, and replaced it.) When I first tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't respond. After about 4 hours of "space heater" treatment, I plugged the power cord back in, and tried to play a DVD (which it did) and access a Word document (which it did).

I was really relieved that it worked, until I got it to work today and it won't play using only the battery for power. The battery was fully charged before the water spill, but now the computer won't repond at all -- it's like the battery is completey dead.

Anyone heard of this? Ideas about what to do? My warranty doesn't cover accidental damage, so I'd like to minimize the cost of fixing it is possible.

I am preferably looking for a 15.4" or bigger laptop, with at least 128mb of integrated VRAM or a separate graphics card to play the latest pc games. Has to be above 2ghz, also preferably a wireless card.
