I have 2 computers in my home network. When I look at My Network Places on either computer, I find that the network places are listed under 3 separate headings: (1) computer name, (2) 2d computer's name, and (3) "This computer". - I can't see any reason why some places are listed under computer name and others are listed under "This computer". What is the difference between the named computer and "This computer"?

Your own computer should appear twice - once via the network, and once via the 'loopback' address - this is an expected and desirable behavior.

You can disable the loopback address if you really want to.
